The Wiki project has taught me two things. One, doing the research on my PDS (Mylan Park Elementary) helped me get to know more of the staff and feel more a part of the school. Secondly, before this class I has never really even heard of a wiki. This assignment introduced me to a tool that I probably will use in my future teaching. I really like the design of our wiki. We tried to give it a unique flair that reflected Mylan Park. For example, for most of our theme colors, we used red, white, and blue, because Mylan Park's mascot is the Patriots! I also like the quote we wrote underneath the Mylan Park code, "Make it a good day or not, the choice is yours!" We wrote that because the principal always says that at the end of morning announcements. I also am proud of our WVU section. We tried to get pictures and information from the tutors and interns as well as the participants. I think we answered some good questions too that helped us all get to know each other a little bit better.
First of all, I really liked how each of the WVU students talked about what they liked about Mylan Park Elementary. This really helps them to connect to their school and their time at the school. This helps them to pull out positive characteristics and experiences to appreciate and learn from. The pictures included a lot of different types of activities. This is a great way to show many possiblities that can be done in the classroom. WVU students can use these pictures to relflect on what they did or they can get ideas from what others did. Overall, pictures of the time in the classroom are a great way to document activities and lessons done, so that we can access them in the future for visual representation.
